It has come to my attention that a few officials are not following the Code of Ethics for officials. Remember that as a registered official with the MHSAA you should conduct yourself as an official at all times. This includes while watching games with your children or family and friends. Too many officials that are spectators at games are yelling at officials, disputing calls, and just being disruptive. This is not how we act. Sportsmanship starts with you and fans around you know you are an official. How would that make you feel if you where the official being yelled at, by a member of our association. Please remember to control yourself and act with respect and sportsmanship.
We discussed the by-laws and after the discussion the membership has decided to table these until next year. I have appointed a committee lead by Mark Grantham to research the by-laws and meet and adjust the by-laws to what was discussed at the banquet. I feel this committee will do the right thing to update our by-laws. The committee will meet with the Excutive Committee in August with their recommedations and we will disclose those findings at the fall business meeting in Sept or Oct (no date yet) and a final vote by the membership will take place in March of 2011.
The membership as voted to donate $1500.00 to Officials for Kids & Hurley Hospital. This is an awesome thing that the membership has done. Tom Rau & Pat O'Reilly will be co-chairmen of the new Charity Committee. They will look at ways for our association to raise money for Officials for Kids.
Don't forget we are having our golf outing this year on Aug 14th at The Fortress in Frankenmuth please RSVP to me if you are interested. 810-240-9040
